The 3M Fire Barrier Block B258 is an intumescent firestop foam product designed for use in firestopping through-penetration openings in walls and floors. It is manufactured by 3M and intended for use by electrical distributors, lighting solutions providers, wire and cable installers, and switchgear suppliers to maintain fire resistance in penetrations involving cables, pipes, and other building services. The product comes in maroon-colored polyurethane foam blocks that expand when exposed to heat to seal openings and prevent the passage of fire and smoke.
